Pandemic, Exports of Indonesian Ornamental Plants Increase

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Director General (Dirjen) of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) Horticulture Prihasto Setyanto revealed that exports of ornamental plants in Indonesia have increased since 2020, namely when the Covid-19 pandemic entered the archipelago.

“According to the data we obtained in the January-June period in 2020-2022, exports of ornamental plants tend to increase,” he said at the Floriculture Indonesia International (FLOII) Convex 2022 press conference at Wyl’s Kitchen, Veranda Hotel at Pakubuwono, Jakarta, Tuesday (9 /9). /8/2022).

The increase in exports of Indonesian ornamental plants has even made the Directorate General of Horticulture of the Ministry of Agriculture receive many applications for Export Permits (SIP) every week.

According to Prihasto, this was something positive that happened in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, namely when the economy was in a downturn. “The agricultural sector is still experiencing positive growth, especially ornamental plants. This is our chance. With this exhibition, we are showing the power of Indonesian ornamental plants,” he said.
